With top drivers from multiple categories, the competition was intense and led to some remarkable performances.
In Top Fuel, Tony Stewart kicked off the event with an impressive 3.713-second run at 338.68 mph to defeat Clay Millican, who struggled with a time of 7.811 seconds. "It felt great to start strong, and I think we have what it takes to compete for the championship this year," said Stewart.
Leah Pruett also advanced, recording the same 3.713-second time as her opponent Jasmine Salinas but ultimately winning with a faster speed of 333.41 mph. "Every run counts, and we’re here to make every one of them count," Pruett emphasized.
The quarterfinals continued the high-speed drama with Maddi Gordon defeating Tony Schumacher in a close race that ended 3.783 seconds to 3.863 seconds. In the finals, Hart showcased extraordinary skill, clocking in at 3.733 seconds with a top speed of 337.83 mph to secure victory over Kalitta, who crossed the line at 3.877 seconds. "Winning here is just the start; we want to keep this momentum going," Hart stated after his win.
The Funny Car category added another layer of excitement as Chad Green impressed many, bypassing Terry Haddock with a time of 4.022 seconds. "Racing here is always special, and I’m thrilled to advance," Green remarked. Notable victories included J.R. Todd's win over Dave Richards and J.R. Todd's continued dominance over Daniel Wilkerson in subsequent rounds.
As the semifinals concluded, Green secured a spot in the finals after defeating Jordan Vandergriff. Facing off against Alexis DeJoria in the championship round, Green claimed victory with a stellar time of 3.959 seconds, safeguarding DeJoria’s run that ended at 5.003 seconds. "To take the win at the Gatornationals is surreal; I appreciate all the support from my team," Green expressed joyfully.
Pro Stock saw Erica Enders kick things off against Eric Latino, where Enders emerged victorious with a solid run of 6.587 seconds. Aaron Stanfield and Dallas Glenn also delivered commendable performances, winning their respective matches.
In the quarterfinals, Glenn was eliminated while Hartford gained momentum, having won against Stanfield. As the semifinals approached, Greg Anderson faced off against Enders, managing to eliminate her, which set up a final showdown between Hartford and Anderson.
Hartford ultimately triumphed in the finals with an impressive time of 6.530 seconds, finishing just ahead of Anderson’s 6.562 seconds. "This win means everything; the caliber of racers here is tremendous," Hartford noted after claiming the championship.
Lastly, the Pro Stock Motorcycle category captivated attendees with competitive rounds, including a remarkable clash between Steve Johnson and Jianna Evaristo where Johnson prevailed. Key performances were highlighted in subsequent rounds as Richard Gadson advanced past Angie Smith to reach the finals against John Hall.
In a tightly contested final, Gadson edged out Hall for a narrow victory, clocking in at 6.753 seconds versus Hall's 6.799 seconds. "To claim the win here is all that we work for, and I’m proud of the entire team’s effort," Gadson stated.
